Joe Girardi Offered Position As Skipper

Posted by Mark McCray |

Joe Girardi has officially been named the heir to the New York Yankee managerial throne. Look for coverage of the official press conference probably Tuesday, but maybe even later this afternoon.

GREAT NEWS for the Yankees!!! There is no question in my mind that Joe Girardi will reinvent this ball club and take these Yankee's to the World Series in the very near future.

The worst part about this decision is that Don Mattingly has expressed a desire to not join Girardi's new coaching staff. I do however feel that Donnie Baseball will be offered another position within this organization if he wants to remain there.

Just a little background information on the new Yankee Skipper:

"Joe Girardi, 43, was a member of the Yankees' 1996, '98 and '99 World Series clubs in a 15-year playing career with four organizations. He served as former Yankees manager Joe Torre's bench coach in 2005 before guiding the Marlins to a 78-victory season in '06, keeping the club in Wild Card contention into the final week of the campaign."
