Apparently, the Yankees along with the Mets have shown some preliminary interest in the rehabbing right handed pitcher, Mark Prior. Prior was released from the Cubs this weekend and is now a free-agent.
Anthony McCarron of the New York Daily News had this to say,
"The possibility of the Yankees and Mets competing for a big-name pitcher always puts sizzle into a free-agent chase, but it remains to be seen how deep the two teams get into discussions over Prior."Prior, who is still rehabbing from arthroscopic surgery on his rotator cuff is able to play catch right now and is expected to be able to pitch at full speed by the end of May.
"Both teams have expressed "preliminary interest" in the righty, John Boggs, the pitcher's agent, said yesterday. "But it hasn't been anything more than that. Next week will probably be pretty busy."
Depending on what you could sign him for, this could be an interesting move. I like the promise, but I would not commit any more than one or two years at around 3 million each, if that.
